Your first interview is mostly about attitude and communication. Companies hiring freshers expect to train you, so they test how you think and whether you will fit the team. Prepare these ten and you will handle most of the conversation.
The questions
- Tell me about yourself. Give a 60-second pitch: education, key strengths, and the role you want.
- Why do you want this job? Connect your skills to the company’s work.
- What are your strengths? Pick two and back each with an example.
- What is your biggest weakness? Name a real one and how you are improving it.
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Show ambition that fits the role.
- Tell me about a challenge you faced. Use the STAR method — Situation, Task, Action, Result.
- Why should we hire you? Summarise your fit in three points.
- Are you willing to relocate? Be honest.
- Do you have any questions for us? Always ask one — about the role or team.
- What is your salary expectation? Research the market and give a range.
