The Relationship Manager (RM) role is one of the most common entry points into private banking. Interviews focus on three things: can you sell, do you understand banking products, and can people trust you?
Know the products
Be ready to explain savings/current accounts, fixed deposits, personal and home loans, credit cards, mutual funds and insurance — and who each suits.
Prepare sales scenarios
Expect role-plays: “Sell me a credit card” or “A customer wants to close their account — what do you do?” Practise a calm, needs-first approach.
Show your numbers
If you have any sales or targets background, quantify it. If you are a fresher, talk about persuasion in college activities.
Ask smart questions
Ask about targets, the customer segment, and growth paths — it signals seriousness.
